United by the Mountains
The Polish United by the Mountains project was launched in July 2022 by Decathlon Poland teams and the “Foundation, Ładne Historie” association.
This project is aimed at people with physical and mental disabilities and their families.
The idea is simple: to enable disabled people to go on expeditions, but above all to share these moments with their families.

Human Resources Manager at Decathlon Bielany

The Decathlon Foundation financed the sports equipment needed for these outings, including climbing gear and camping equipment.
Decathlon employees involved in this project regularly take part in expeditions and organize training sessions on how to use the equipment.
This project mobilizes athletes, entrepreneurs and “ordinary” people who want to help disabled people and break down stereotypes.
The aim of this project, in addition to climbing, is to introduce participants to the region and its atmosphere. As a result, 7 trips have been organized for disabled people and their families since the launch, and a mountain trip was organized for beneficiaries of the Szklarska Poręba social welfare center.
During all the expeditions, participants were able to use the wheelchairs specific to these outings free of charge. Participation in the expeditions was also free of charge.
Finally, a number of training courses are offered to these people, such as :
-Training in interpersonal communication (self-presentation, approaching a potential employer, etc.)
-Teamwork training.
-Training in expressing emotions and communicating needs, individually and in groups.
-Practical training organized in the field during expeditions. Topics include mountain sports and an introduction to the rules of mountain behavior.
